Barbara Davis Gallery is pleased to announce  End of the Line, a solo-exhibition by internationally known Miami based artist Gavin Perry, opening Friday, September 6, 2013, with an artist reception from 6:30 – 8:30PM.

For his exhibition End of the Line, Gavin Perry presents new paintings that continue his practice of process-based abstraction using synthetic materials, such as pigmented resin and vinyl pin striping.  Through the act of pouring various layers of resin, Perry’s paintings provide a medium through which to record their own time of production. Layers of amorphous forms overlap intersecting lines and serve as markers of a kind of manufacturing—differentiated, customized, but also divested of gestural imprint that has survived the advent of the digital.  The pristine, glass-like surfaces of Perry’s paintings evoke a sense of impenetrability.  Resin, in particular, is a common thread within this latest body of work.  Due to its very nature, resin seeks a natural level, which gives it its fluidity and smooth quality. Resin’s traits, contradictory and complimentary in relation to dominant contemporary methods of production, offer literal and allegorical readings of spaces that fall outside an algorithm-saturated social and commodity world.

End of the Line opens Friday, September 6, 2013, with an opening artist reception from 6:30 – 8:30PM. Artist will be in attendance. This exhibition is on view September 6, 2013 through October 18, 2013.  For more information, please contact Barbara Davis Gallery at 713.520.9200 or info@barbaradavisgallery.com.
