ARTISTS EXHIBITIONS INFO BARBARA DAVIS GALLERY JOE MANCUSO JOE MANCUSO STILL STILL LIFE SEPTEMBER 5 - OCTOBER 4 2008 ARTIST RECEPTION: FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 5 - 6.30 - 8.30 PM The upcoming exhibition Still Still Life is surprisingly spontaneous for Houston artist Joe Mancuso, who has been known for his formal and meticulous practice. Departing from his past works and subjects, Mancuso harmoniously integrates many different substances to create magical moments. His latest body of work, in which he will include a significant wall drawing, gives a sense of resolved chaos, allowing one moment to suggest another within the same stream of consciousness. Mancuso revels in the joy of painting by incorporating many techniques and materials into each of his works, while still maintaining a strong unity within each. The variety of textures, substances and techniques in his work forces the viewer to investigate the relationships between each moment and reveals itself as a collage of fluid connections.
